Speaker Bio: Tim Foley joined Dataprise in 2011 and currently serves as Director of Information Security for the Dataprise CYBER division. A former advisor to the Department of Defense, he is a proven leader who brings over 15 years of cross-sector industry experience in information security. Tim leads the Dataprise Cyber security practice, where his passion for driving transparency consistently leads to better business decisions and increased value for our customers. Tim and his team are able to fill the C-level Strategic Security needs by leveraging the Dataprise Cyber Security Intelligence Lifecycle (CSIL) and Six Sigma Process Improvement practices.
Tim attended Washington & Lee University where he received his B.S. in Computer Science. Tim holds a number of professional certifications including CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GSTRT, CCSK, ITIL v3, and Six Sigma Black Belt Professional.
Topic Abstract: In today’s ever advancing threat climate, cyber incidents and breaches are an all too common part of the business landscape. Although the highly publicized breaches often involve enterprise organizations, according to the 2019 Verizon DBIR, 43% of breaches involved small and midsized businesses. These small and midsized organizations are often less prepared to combat these security attacks but deal with many of the same threats as their larger counterparts.
Enterprise organizations have the budget, tooling , and resources to better combat these cyber incidents, whereas the small and midsized organizations must be more calculated in the attack surfaces they cover in order to show due diligence with limited resources. We will explore these concepts and provide actionable insights to help security-minded professionals become more resilient in the face of constantly evolving threats.
