Speaker Bio: Austin Norby has 7 years of experience in the cyber security industry ranging from hands-on work while working for the U.S. Department of Defense to cyber security innovations and strategy with his current employer, Blue Star Software. Mr. Norby has held certifications from (ISC)2, EC-Council, GIAC, and Offensive Security. His well-rounded experience and exposure up and down the hierarchy gives him a unique and valuable perspective into the cyber security industry.

Topic Abstract: Cyber security requires knowledge and hands-on skills. Most employees learn the basics either on the job, through courses or certifications, or in college. Once someone understand the basics, how do they advanced their skills and grow as a cyber security employee? They need hands-on practice in a modern, secure environment to keep up-to-date and improve their skills. The best way to do that is by creating and using hacking labs. Hacking labs can provide custom training for individuals, can be reused to train employees to a scenario, and improve tangential skills which makes them a better all-around technical employee. In this talk, we will discuss all of the benefits of Building Your Own Hacking Lab including the ones mentioned above.
